HI all. i have an approx. 1 year old black widow tetra. Around 2.5 inch in length. She has a growth that has taken over its entire eye. Is there anything i can do, or is it toooo late? Please help :/

Need tank size in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Can you describe the growth in more detail please.
It it a bump what colour and how big, or do you mean the eye is bulging out.

Its a 160 litre tank..
Theres 3 widows and two shovelnose catfish livin with 3 4" comet goldfish.

i Dont have tester kits for anything but ph.... ph 7 ( pretty constant )

she doesnt seem to have any eye left. The growth is a black Spongy looking texture and it pretudes out about 5 - 10 mm.

In the last few days shes started swimming on a slight angle which makes me think the eye doesnt work any more. Please reply.

Bless her, could of been a parasite to bacterial infection or
has she lost the eye through fighting or damaged it in the tank.
I would try a bacterial med anyway as the stuff that left might be infected.
I know sometimes black patches can be a kind of cancer.
She will swim to oneside abit with only having one eye.

Thanks Wilder. Yer she does swim to one side. I dont think there is much i can do for her. They are mid tank fish but she is hiding up top in one corner. The black stuff is in side her gills on that same side also. Her gill is flaring. Should i worry about meds. Or just let her pass??

I would issolate her she not good no.
Has any fish been flicking and rubbing.

Thanks for the reply Wilder.
Ill put her aside deffinately. None of the other fish seem effected at all. But i dont know how long that will last. I can only hope for the best from teh rest of them. Thanks for all your help wilder......
