Black Substrates

I am thinking of changing the substrate in my betta tank to something black.  Currently it is natural multi-toned gravel.
 
Before I do change it, I'd just like to know if there is something I should know... like will I then see more dirt or whatnot.  I am thinking or maybe getting Seachem Floourite Dark... has anyone used that?  Anything I need to know before using it?  (Other than rinse rinse rinse).

I'm not sure about the Florite but if you're interested in non-plant substrates I recommend the Unipac range of sands. I use their Limpopo and love it - the poop doesn't show up much at all. 
 
I have used Caribsea Tahitian Moon in the past but didn't like it - it was too sharp for my bottom dwellers and my cories ended up with shortened barbels. Also it showed lots of poop.

Any gray or black smooth, fine pebbles. Gray ones usually turn black when wet. Safe for bottom dwelling fish as well

I do have a few easy growing plants for my betta.  I was thinking fine pebbles too but the pricing seemed to be double of what the Seachem Flourite was.

Right... I've decided I shall go with the Seachem Flourite Dark as I've been thinking.  Once that is all re-done I shall finally introduce a snail too.
