I have 6 Male Guppies but one of them seems different. The LFS said it was a different type ie. Wild and has different markings to the others. We got it cos the Girlfriend liked his tail. It has a few black spots on its body which she cant remember seeing before.. not sure if it is "Black Spot" or just natural markings. I have a few photos but they are not that great...

Thanks for clearing that up.. thats what we though bust as I'm not at home at the min I just wanted to make sure.

Those are guppy happy spots :p. They appear when your guppy wants to show off to the ladies. My Rosy barbs do the opposite and lose their black spot when they're happy.

That will explain why sometimes they are there and sometimes not.. Or go dim then bright. Shame there are no ladies in the tank for him to show off too!

I believe the trait is derived from crossing Endlers with guppies since Endlers also display the black spots or bars and most guppies with them look Endlerish.
