Anyone know where I can get a big bag of black sand in Hampshire?

Not gravel or quartz...........sand

Im assuming you have tried places like ebay or amazon, or any reputable online aquatic store?

D.

Does anyone know where doresy can find the sand he is looking for? Sand is pretty heavy to have to pay shipping costs for. :hyper:

My best guess would be a maidenhead aquatics dorsey, they usually have different sands available, well they do up here anyway.

Doresy - try Maidenhead at the Abbey Nurseries in Titchfield or AquaJardin over near the Itchen Valley Country Park.

Maidenhead should be able to orde you some if nothing else.

Hi, cheers for the help. Aquajardin only have black quartz type black stuff which I think is too sharp. Maidinhead here do not have any either and they reckon due to transportation costs 'cos of the fuel, heavy things like substrates are not considered saleable due to the high price! For that reason they do not order loads, only the basics.

In the absence of black sand I have now decided I like the look of the black gravel (Roman?) in..........achem  Pets at Home

Well it's black and it's cheap and what's more a family member has half a bag left over from his tank so I only have to buy one :shifty:

nice one doresy i have this ( bought from the same place :shifty: ) in jambos tank, looks lovely and not too sharp at all, the only thing i find is if i get distracted while doing a gravel vac , i do lose quite a bit  (women eh?? )
show us the pics when its in place :)

Great minds and all that! The photo will be coming once my 6 rocks arrive. Going for the Cichlid look, one of the dwarf types or Rams maybe. I had to go fake rock as I have a weight issue (the tanks are upstairs, rude girl!)

Take a look..... http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/decorat...cial_rock/40952
