Hi there,

Long time hobbyist seeking advice regarding a male black phantom tetra.

I have a school of 10 in a 450L / 120 gallon aquarium along with angels, congo tetras, giant silver hatchets and a golden nugget pleco.

Recently I noticed that one male black phantom is not schooling with the others and is constantly twitching, shaking and looks like he’s having a seizure. I can’t upload a video but he is constantly quivering and can’t hold himself up in the water.

I wondered whether it might be a swim bladder issue?

Mature, well established tank. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, nitrates 5-10ppm maximum.

Any advice or insights gratefully received.

Thanks

Jay

I've seen that - the fish has spasms and eventually sinks to the bottom. I've discussed it with people who have said it's anything from a virus to tb lesions affecting the central nervous system. It could be both, or a few things in between. All I can say for certain is it has never spread in my tanks, and no fish has ever recovered.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Post a 1 minute video of the fish. Upload video to YouTube, then copy & paste the link here.
Hold phone horizontally (not vertical) so the footage fills the entire screen.
