I bought 7 Black Neons last Thursday (3 days ago) and 4 of them have just started with White Spot...only a couple of spots fins at the moment, but I know its there. Anyone got any ideas if these fish already had this when I bought them? I read on the net that its a 10 day incubation period for this parasite? if thats correct they did have it when I got them.

Going into the shop this morning to tell them, and ask that they check the stock they have left for ich and also get some treatment for it.

Next thing when I can afford it is a quarantine tank!!

They probably had it when you bought it. Very common. Who knows if the store knew about it, could be the suppliers. Recommend full treatment for the full duration or it will come back. Be consistent.

Thanks Karen for your reply - went to the shop, they admitted the neons probably had it when I bought them and gave me the treatment for it - half way through at the moment and noticed the spots are falling off now so hopefully the cysts will be very dead shortly. Have taken carbon out and turned the heater up - I don't like leaving it this long between water changes though! Its still only the black neons with it.

The manager at the shop did say they put all sorts in the water to surpress any illness in the fish and if they have anything it will come out when they are in their new homes.....I found a good Fluval quarantine tank really cheap on ebay and that is where all the new fish will be going for 2/3 weeks from now on, though I won't be buying any until this White Spot is cleared up completely.

Only treatment I have found to work on Ich is Methylene Blue. I've used Kordon's personally.

Kills everything in the tank basically but the fish, so cycling needs to be done afterwards, but believe me, when done right, Ich will not remain.

Just follow instructions on bottle and it will work.
