i have a spare 10 gallon and was wanting to know if i could keep a (meaning just one) black moor in there! ...can i? and how long will he live in there before he needs a bigger tank? what all do black moors eat? and are they like goldfish can they do with out a heater??

thanks

edit: PS i was wanting to build an above ground pond!! how big would it have to be for like 3 koi? what all will it need besides a filter!

goldfish take years to grow so you could probably keep one in a ten gallon tank for quite a long time. Also, no, golfish don't need heaters--although you could certainly use one to keep stable temperatures around 70ish degrees. Also, black moors can live off of regular golfish flakes however I'd suggest feeding them orange and cucumber slices as well as canned peas a few times a week.

thank you anymore help will be appreciated i want to learn all i can! oh and my house temp always stays at 73F

30 gallons seems about right for a fish that if kept in the right conditions is going to reach 10 inches,

think about it 10 gallons ,by the time you add gravel ,filter etc etc the water volume is going to be greatly reduced

id say yeh for short term maybe a couple of years but eventualy your going to have to move the fish over to a bigger tank

id try and avoid flaked foods as black moors are highly prone to swim bladder problems ,crushed pellets would be my choice of food for them

ok yea  i know how big they get :p i wasnt going to keep him in there for the rest of his life! but anyways thank you
