I have just bought two black mollies for my tank one is swimming round happy the other keeps dropping to the bottom and lying on its its it doesnt look to well what can i do?

In my experience mollies really struggle in new tanks, is your tank newly set up?

has it got a bit of salt in? Mine perked up when I put a smidge in. Apart from the orange one who is sitting on the bottom.

My tank is 5 months old and never had a problems with water levels. get it checked weekly with a liquid testing kit at my lfs. Both mollies died ufortunately, one not long after posting on here the other over night. the one that died over night was swimming at the surface all day yesterday why would it do this?

Do you happen to know your pH and hardness? Mollies generally prefer brackish water. A lot of people have success with them in hard alkaline water, but they usually don't do well in soft acidic water.

They could also have been bad stock or sick. Did you have them in quarantine? If not, watch the other fish closely for similar symptoms.

Is the water getting agitated enough?

Ive been told that if theyre hanging around at the top alot its because there isnt enough oxygen in the water.

Possibly try and airstone in there or a filter that moves the surface water more

hope this helps

No didnt have them in quarantine! I am watching and some of the fish are acting weird swimming in ways they dont normally! golden barbs are normally round the bottom in groups and they are swimming round individually??
