Hi

Not been on for a while, but first returned to forum, I was struggling with Black Hair Algae

To try to combat this, I started with shortening of light period. Was running blue and whites from 10 till 8. Cut this down to 1 to 8. Didn't make much difference to be truthful

After doing a bit of hunting around on the t'internet, I got some Liquid Carbon and along with DIY co2, set about trying to combat this blooming algea

Was dosing slightly more than the requested.

was going with the hopefully the plants will start to take up more of the nutrients than the algea route :rolleyes:

After approx month and half the results are there to be seen

The plants are loving the extra carbon and co2. the co2 isn't regulated at the moment it is waiting to be started again.

Take us through what you did to fix the problem (step by step) so others with the same issue can try it. :)

For a second I thought you had a squirrel drowning in your fish tank because of the picture on one of the photos 🤦‍♀️It's a very lovely fish tank, as Colin said do tell what you did. I am currently removing algae manually whenever i clean the tank but preventing it would certainly be better

Any new updates?
I’m struggling with the dreaded black algae myself
