Black Ghost Knife Tankmates?

As I said, slow growing and not to sound mean,

Mine went from 3" to 12" in 12 months...not exactly what I would call slow growing. He does however live peacefully with many fish much smaller than him and which would easily fit in his mouth if he so wished.

Thanks Darkstar, that's quite reassuring and also surprising. I didn't realise they grew so big so quickly!

Yup, there's the fat git...:)

He certainly is a beauty.
What you feeding him....small children!?

lol, if you've got an spare kids I'll happily give it a try....

Currently though I mostly feed him whole prawn, chunks of bloodworm, the occasional earthworm etc....

Oh, don't tempt me! Two teenage daughters....enough said!
Thanks for posting your pic, more determined than ever to get one now.

Wow thats some growth rate darkstar, makes me think Im doing something wrong with mine now :look:

How big a tank is he in and what you feeding him?

yeah I was surprised how quick he grew too....I'm kinda glad he's slowed down somewhat in the last 12 months lol

Thanks Atilla.
I've had Denison Barbs before and they all died within two weeks. We had two filters, two airstones and two powerheads running in the tank but they still kept coming to the top for air. Water quality was perfect and I'm still not sure why we lost them. :/

im sorry to hear that, its a shame because they are a beautiful active fish :(

my BGK has been in my tank for about 2 months and has grown half an inch, thats a hell of a growth rate Darkstar! what size tank is he in?

fair play thats the same size as my tank :)

although i have used the BGK's adult size as a barganing chip with the missus to upgrade to a 6x2x2 later this year :D

haha..I'm doing the same thing, but trying to argue for an 8ft.....she'll give in long before I give up, it's just a matter of time lol

Mine was originally in a 4ft 55g, then was moved to a 47g (temporarily) and will *fingers crossed* be moved in a 100g this weekend.

He eats bloodworm, prawn, mussel, shrimp, cockle, refuses anything flake or pellet wise though. He's a happy chap, hand feeds and stuff, just doesnt seem to grow too quickly.
