A big hello to everyone on site. I have just joined and was wondering if you could help. My BGK never comes out at all during the day, and also, all my other fish keep eating my pleco's food

New to all this

Many thanks for reading

I never owned a BGK but both people i know with one, both say same as you, doesnt really come out much, in fact one of them is fed up with never seeing it! Thats normal BGK fish behaviour as far as i know!

As for Pleco and food, i have some problem with my Pleco (my big one), although i did notice in my other tank, if the Bristlenose are hungry they will find the food quickly!!! I kind of think the same will happen for my Pleco, if they are really hungry they will make more of an assertive effort to grab the food! Well this is what i hope.

Zoe,
we don't often see our BGK, and I don't really know why. Allegedly they are virtually blind and see with sonar, so day or night should make no difference.
(it may be that as they are so shy they only come out at night when the other fish are less active)
Some keepers use a clear plastic tube in the tank. The BGK hides away in it, unaware of the fact that you can see it !!!
Re the plec, "Sebastian" is around 4 years old, and I have only ever seen him sucking the glass. He is over 1 foot long (I'm not being rude either !!) and in great condition. Tried plec wafers once.....everyone else loved them !! Only concern is that we are replanting the tank too frequently. Where could the plants be disappearing to ???? I wonder !!

Hmmmmm, interesting.

Also i bought 10 neons yest. and got up this morning to 0 neons. think BGK is the culprit, Managed to get my money 12 pounds back from pets at home as told a little white lie, hehe.

no offence, but why would you be putting something that small in with a BGK unless you were planning them as food.

Dont worry about the pleco, mine didnt come out for ages but when he was hungry enough he came out. I break an algea wafer up into about 4 pieces and scatter it around the tank and he normally gets a piece. The reason i do this is because my other fish go into a frenzy if i just drop a whole wafer in, if you break it up they all get a chance of getting some. HTH. Gra

Pet shop said they would be fine together. she didnt ask te size of my BGk though.
we have had neons, cherry barbs, glow lights etc in with our BGK.Ok, so generally they are classed as aggressive, but they are so individual.big enough tank, enough space etc etc,

They are nocturnal, and dont worry about buying expensive food for them. I feed mine small scraps of uncooked bacon or there new favorite is smoked salmon.
