hey

i got a juvie black ghost and i was wondering if he can go with gouramis, siler sharks and mollies.

first thing first

what size tank are we talking?

30 gal but its just temporary. im moving him to a bigger tank as soon as possible.

hes only a inch or 2. so i wanna know if my gouramis will be botherd by him.

what size tank are you planning to move them too?

your mollies will become feeder fish, have you ever seen how big ghost knifes get ? 50cm+ ive seen mine chop a beef heart in half, there a powerful fish and can kill with ease, i wouldnt say its going to be a good outcome

but as i sed b4. hes only a juvie. some of my mollys are bigger then him. and im mving my bgkf to a 100 gal tank. or i mite give him bak to the lfs if i dont get the tank.

if your not sure about his future, give him to the lfs, and when you get a bigger tank, buy another one

ye but i got a phone caLL SAYING IM GETTING THE 100 GAL :D

You really shouldnt have any worries at this point in the game, a 100 gal tank is more than adequate, the mollies are bigger than him? then they should die of old age before hes big enough to eat em  besides they only tend to get that aggressive when they are about half grown. As for Gouramis my African Knives live with a pair of large golden gouramis and my clown knives lived with them before thetyy were relocated

get one put in after all it is only a young one and it will take ages to grow had one in my tank for months and he has never eaten a thing and there is lots of small fish in there rainbows gouramis etc good luck and i am sure you will not need it :kana:

From my own experience I have found that BGK's are tolerant of smaller fish given the right circumstances. I have a feeder fish, a danio and a heap of different sorts of corydora's in my tank that are no larger than 3 cm. My biggest BGK (I have 2 in the tank) is around 25cm and well and truly able to take them if he wants to yet have never had any go missing. The way to overcome them taking any of your smaller fish is to make sure they are getting enough food. Also I have found that BGK's generally don't eat a fish completely but rather suck it's eye balls out and let it fend for itself. They consider this to be a delicacy and if fish are going missing I would also be looking at the other fish in your tank as they could be the culprit rather than the BGK. IMO BGK's have a bad reputation that really isn't warranted.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Bryce.

the bgk will be fine with those fish...
at the size he is now that 30 gallon should last approx a year or longer...
once he is about 7-8 inches mollies SMALL mollies may be come food.

well its been over a month since i posted the topic and he hasnt hurt a live bloodworm! he likes freeze dried. and he doesnt eat my nearly 2 month old molly fry that are in there

Live bloodworm or blackworm?

Glad to hear yours is not aggressive.
