Guys,

Im gonna add Black Carbon to my tank today to remove some meds. I have the Carbon and a media bag, my question is do i need to wash the carbon first (its loose and looks sooty) and how much do i use?

Thanks for any advice

Paul

Rinse it first, it usually contains a considerable amount of dust. I hardly ever run it, but do know that filters designed for a 50 gallon tank come with a packet about the size of a couple of hot dogs, for lack of a better comparison.

I'm up early, my stomach is growling, hot dogs came to mind!

He He,

My tank is 125l.

Should i wash it in tank water?

Thanks for the early reply! :p

Tank water is best, tap contains chlorine and probably chloramine, and the carbon will start to pick this up, why waste it's abilities.

Yea, up early for an auction, just got done bagging, making out labels. Normally I'm still asleep.

Cool,

Is business good at the moment?

What do you sell if you don't mind me asking?

Auctions are hit or miss, if you know something about the local market it helps. What I sell depends on this, some fish such as angels, smaller cichlids and cats I breed, other things I get in at a deal and sell them. I like to get things in that are a little different, but affordable, fire belly newts, loachs, that sort of thing. If I pay for my food & travel expenses I'm more than happy.

It must be a buzz working within a field that you love and have a passion for!

To you transport the fish yourself? I cant imagine FEDEX paying a great deal of attention to a 'Livestock this way up, do not shake, drop or move in a slightly agitated manner' sticker!
