:D need to know what are the optimal tank conditions for the black arrowana

i have bought a young specimin the egg sac has gone and he is happily eating harliquins/bloodworm/babie guppies(i am going to get him on to floating dried food as soon as possible so dont have a go at me for feeding him fish as this is the way they are )

now would he be better in my acidic tank or the alkaline one???????

Far better in the acidic tank, they are a amazonian species and come from tannin and humic acid rich waters with a low pH and hardness.

I just found one for Ryan recently and he's been having good success hand feeding his with bloodworm and ants.

CFC has told you the correct conditions. Mine is on bloodworms from hand and ants aswell as a few flys, be warned though they have a habbit of eating to fast and choking on what they eat. I have to feed mine one at a time to as it has choked twice on its food and got it stuck in its gills which recovered removing. They are harder to raise then Silvers apparently so you have to watch them carefully, if you can try to wean them onto Arowana Sticks ASAP. :)

:D thanks ryan/cfc they are okay to live along side the discus in my fry tank 4 now thenas he is only 3 1/4" long untill he is big enough for the larger acidic tank

the discus breeding tank is a 75 gal so he can grow up in this yes?????

Mine was with Hatchets and Tetras, but I had to move them because he started to realise they will be food soon and chased them all over the place. :)

A 75 will do for about a year until it outgrows it and will need a upgrade, some people say they need a 125 within 6 months but arowanas are very flexible and imo you can get away with slightly smaller tanks for them for a while, once the arowana is over 14" or so you will need a minimum of a 180g (6x2x2) and prefferably bigger, a tank with a 30" width would be better.

would an 8x4x4 be fine then????

i have a tank this size but it has not been used since the seal broke i have time to repair it though once again thanks for the advice ill grow hime up in the 5x3x2 tank in due course with the large disuc this will be okay for quite some time will it not

Your plan sounds fine, the 8x4x4 will be good. I plan to keep mine in a 6x2x2 for a year of two and then upgrade to and 8' wider tank.

75-80 degree temperature, Ph-6.8 - 7.2 and probally my himself, they are agressive!

And ya know how you said you bought it as an Egg Sak? Well here is some FYI....DON'T!! Do you know that they have to kill the father Arrowana to get the eggs out??!?!? IS that cruel or what?
