I have read the same info and have to agree 100%. Black angels are alot harder to keep, let alone be able to get to a size that can breed. I've had 2. One lived for about 8 months, but never did get as big as the others I had purchased at the same time and size. I now have another one that I purchased about 3 months ago. The 2 Koi that I got at the same time and size are now the size of quarters while the black one is barely dime size. He also seems to have a deformity in one of his feelers that make swimming difficult. He will literally lay flat on the bottom of the tank or propped up beside some decor in there. He has no trouble getting to the top of the tank at feeding time however so I've kept him around and unless he gets worse, I'll let him live his life out, however long that may be. I can't say I would never get another black one, but they are a whole lot less healthy and hardy when compared to the Blushings, Koi and Marbled ones I've kept. And of those, the Blushing and Koi are the strongest ones.ramesses said:Hi Ryan,I hate to differ but, they are certainly not as strong as other varieties.
Go to any webpage that sells black angelfish, and they would tell you that because of the overbreeding in order to maintain that beautiful color, many are very delicate. Therefore, not everybody should get them, unless you have somewhat master the keeping and breeding of angels.
