Well, as some people followed a few months back, I was conduction an experiment on a product called Biozyme, which some very experienced fishkeepers near me swear by. So with the help of my husband, who is going to set the tank up and stuff for me (I can't as I just had surgery), I am going to do a fishless cycles on my 65g hex in hopes of seeing whether or not biozyme has an affect on the cycle.

Supplies:
65g Oceanic Hexagon tank
2 Marineland Penguin 200 Biowheels
Water (see parameters below)
1 - 8g vial of Sentry AQ Mardel Freshwater Biozyme
1 bottle of Janitorial ammonia

Once the aquarium is filled, I will dose with ammonia and 5/16ths of Biozyme, per the package instructions. i will repeat the biozyme dose, and redose with ammonia accordingly. I will post daily results with pictures. The only thing in the tank will be water. No Substrate, no plants, no rocks.

These are my tap water parameters, run in duplicate.

pH: 8.8
Ammonia: 1ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 5ppm

I wonder how it's going to turn out... (The experiment). Keep me updated!

When you are done, are you going to make it a legit tank?

Yes, it will be a legit tank. We have been wanting to get this one set up for a minute, just haven't had the time.

This will be interesting! Keep us updated!
How high is your PH?!

Alright, here we go. Water taken directly from tank after filling:

After ammonia dosing to 4ppm:

I then added to dose of Biozyme. We will see how it looks tomorrow.

Day Two: Nothing new. Only checked ammonia and nitrites today. No Nitrites, 4ppm of Ammonia.

Well, its day for and I have my first reading for nitrites.

Amm 3-4ppm
Nitrites: .25 ppm
Nitrate: 5ppm (same as tap)

This will be interesting. I'll be watching this thread. 8.8! Your tap water sucks. I'm sorry for ya. How do you buffer it?

In my established tanks it goes down on its own after a day. I buffer my cichlid tanks with crushed coral so that it doesnt drop into the 7's
