Well my old power filter broke last night. The motor on it just stopped and I couldn't figure out how to get it going again. So I had to go to the store and get a new filter and decided on a Penguin biowheel. I was wondering how long it will take for the filter to go through the cycle. I know that some of the bacteria lives in the gravel. Will this bacteria help with cycling the new filter?

It will be a few days before the bio-wheel gets the bacteria growth on it. The gravel still has bacteria in it but just in case, if you have a test kit, I would test to be sure. Or you could do daily 5% wc's to be safe.

BIO-wheels rule!
