Those Bio-Wheels look like a lot of maintenance. On page 26 of the manual, it suggests taking apart the whole filter monthly for cleaning, which seems like a lot of work:

The Whisper Micro filter seems like a lot less maintenance, although it does not do biological filtration; for this, you would need an ugf as well:

the whisper does have bio filtration. but you lose it if you change the cartridge.

The part of the Eclipse you take apart for maintenance is not the bio wheel, it's the pump assembly, you have to clean the gunk out of the tubes and such, all filters need similar maintenance.

That's true, but the Whisper filter seems to have a lot less parts to clean...
