Would I be able to saw a section out of the glass?

Things like this make me wonder if tank makers and equipment manufacturers know each other exist?
I wouldn't like to try it myself, but since you are desperate, can you chip away at the glass with a small pair of pliers until you have a big enough gap for the piping?

Can you post pics of the corner of the tank where that rear glass shelf meets the side shelf?

I tried putting it over but then it wasn't attached to anything.

The gap isn't even big enough for the hoses.

Good god do tank makers know that equipment has to go in tanks?? :S Short of pulling the whole thing apart I don't know what to suggest,I'm usually good at coming up with fixes when I need to,but thats totally stumped me.sorry

My dad managed to chip a bit of the glass off to make it so the pipe would fit, I then put the end bits on while the pipes were in the water, so its all set up now :D

Hmmm, run 2 filters or put old media in the new filter...

I would run the 2 to be absolutely sure the new one is working properly,I had a huge stock loss once because a new filter was under-performing and I didnt realise right away.
