Hey,
my fluval 205 got here today, and I cannot get the rim connector assemblies to fit to my tank.
Also, the hood gets in the way... :-(

the arched bits of plastic sometimes need a good bit of pursuation to clip on if these are what you mean... also i have a fluval tank and an fx5 and the lid doesnt fit as it did anymore. i think fluvals bendy pipe design needs a bit of developing or completely scrapping....

I also have sort of a ledge before you get to the water, like 5 centimetres in, so it is impossible, I will take a pic now to show you...

If its a fluval tank you snap off the thin plastic pieces in the square holes at the back. If its not check the holes anyway to see if theres a part you can snap off. Ive got a 405 on my Jewel tank and my back hood flap doesnt sit flush.

Sorry for the dirt that has accumulated here but I never thought of this before purchasing an external...

As you can see, at the edge it doesn't go straight to the water, there is a bit of glass in the way.

does the strip run the whole length of the tank as some stop a few inches before the end.

are the strips used to sit the hood on or are they used as braces to strengthen the tank?

The hood sits on them, and they go all way round the tank

IT could probably be done but I am not exactly the DIY type...

just run a stanley knife along the silicone then it should be able to fold up or downand cut the silicone again. i think the 3 remaining pieces should be good to hold the hood.

hmm, this is a hard job...

What make/model of tank is it? And how wide is the piece of glass?

EDIT: Just seen that you've said the strip is 5cm wide. How is the strip in the picture fixed to the strips on the side?

It overlaps with both sides with a visible circle patch in the middle of some sort of adhesive. It would be very difficult if not impossible to get to this.

I had the same thought my tank has the same bits of glass and I could find no way to get to the silicone where one bit of glass has been stuck on top of another

Did you find a way around it?
