Were you using a moving company, or DYI? If a moving company, you should be able to get them to reimburse you for the value of the tank. That doesn't solve the immediate problem, but better than nothing.

If you need a quick back up tank, you can keep your fish in plastic tubs. They aren't as fun to watch, but they'll be fine in there long-term. Just ask @Boundava .

As for biggest fail this year, ahh the year is so young and I still have 11 months to do better, but I reckon it is moving into the house of death.

No TV, house lets smoke and fumes in from outside even when doors and windows are shut. House fills with thousands of mosquitoes every night and I spend all night killing them and all day cleaning up the bodies and mess. The cold water comes out of the tap at 50+ degrees Celsius. It is bloody hot in here. I have to do a 3, 5 or 7+ point turn to get my car in or out of the garage and I drive a tiny 4 cylinder hatch. And I can barely open my car door when the car is in the garage.

I can't go outside during the day because of the flies. I can't go out at night because of the mozzies. I can't open the front door to let fresh air in. My neighbour doesn't even have a back door and these units are only a couple of years old. No back door is a breach of building codes and fire safety laws.

I washed the dead mozzies out of my dinner bowl last night and this morning there are already 6 more dead bugs in it.

I have been here for less than 2 weeks and have spent the last 5 days on the suicide help lines because I can't stand this fuplie place.

Jeez, it sounds like you got sent to the hole, in prison terms. I wish you strength in this crappy time. I know nothing of your situation but you clearly have better-than encyclopedic, real-world knowledge of our hobby. The fact that you give so much thought in your responses to others here, I choose to believe you have some good karma coming.

No. The mozzies come from the swamp over the road and the council won't spray them. Instead the council is investigating the matter, which will take about 2 weeks, and then they will try to interrupt the breeding cycle. Which basically means they aren't doing anything coz it's too hard.

yeah I don't think karma is on my side, nor is god. I have the great plagues from the wrath of god, I can't drink the water because it's too hot, no tv and no beer make homer go crazy
or in my case, no TV and no water make colin go crazy

I'm not sure about that. I have been on the phone to the mental health lines every day for the last week. I had the cops out here yesterday checking on me. This place and the people that designed it and fitted it out should be bombed off the face of the earth, along with the damn insects. This is really taking its toll on me, not to mention the other crap about no lease, being evicted the day after I moved in, etc. It's really getting to be too much.

and this forum lag issue has started again about 15 minutes ago.
