Big Mama Gave Birth!

Guppy fry will start to be sexable before you see much of their final color. When a male guppy only has a spot or two on its tail, it will be showing a gonopodium. We are probably talking about 4 weeks to be able to sex them and 2 or more months before you can get a good idea of what they will end up looking like.

The 4 fry i just had 2 are males and have some lovely red in their tails and the 2 females are still yellow.

Here's some pics of the fry at a week and one day old! :good: (they were born on St. Patricks Day) hehe

What do ya think?

They're getting even bigger everyday! Boy, baby fish sure do grow fast! lol

Hmm, When can I let the babies out? They're about 2 weeks old and this big:

..........
Is that big enough or not yet?

Probably not yet. I mean if you have little gravel and the fish are all relatively the same size, then yes, but if you have big gravel, big fish and a powerful filter then I'd say leave them in the box for a little longer.

Ya, I have big gravel and the fish are medium to big size :X
So I shall leave them in for another couple weeks! Thanks! :)

As long as they don't fit into the mouths of your largest fish you should let them out. They will be getting quite cramped in their breeder.

There's 6 of em, and they're about this big

.........

is that to small still?
the breeder is quite big, I got a 3 way trap one, (but I removed the 3 way part) so they have quite some room in it,

you should try and get a seperate tank for them, they need space to swim around, and grow big and strong, a breeders trap is just to small ):

i hope you'd be able to D:

Oh No! I don't have any room in my house, it's just to small! I have a breeder net, it's about a quarter of the tank size almost, it's pretty big! I could put them in that?

With the swordtails I saw in one of your pictures, I would wait another week or so before releasing the molly fry. They look to be coming along nicely but swordtails are awesomely fast predators for the fry to deal with.

Are you sure the sqords aren't just behind the breeder and it looks like they're in it...
