Big Big Clean

wow lovely tank!

how do you keep that white gravel white?? mine went green and STAYED green!

but be careful if you uproot the gravel too much as you could release all the bad stuff

apparently you vac it very well first, then go for gold! i didnt know this, moved my tank from one end of the room to the next, and caused a spike of ammonia and nitrite

but i actually like yours as it is :D

l just did a major clean of my tank too. I cliped all old growth on my plants. Took all decor out and cleaned the sand I only left 4" of water then fillted it half way and cleaned more of the sand taking out more water equal to 100% water change once done. Then I put it back together. I left some decor in so the fish could hide.

I do weekly 50% changes put I was gone for 10 days so my tank was a bit more messy. I don't this kind of cleaning often only when I'm doing some big moving around of things

I would love to see what you did with the tank..

I have to do the same thing! Time for sand! and Cory's! So my tank will have to emptied, will be using three spare tanks for all the fish 2x15G and one 10G.

Good luck with whatever you choose! :good:

P.S. I will be posting before and after pics in my own topic at a later date.

Very nice, once those plants fill in some more it will look awesome.

Can you tell me, the plant on the Left Front is it real? Does it have white lines running up its leaves?

:good: Looks Cool

thanks mate,

yeah the plant is real, picked it up today, thought it looked different so i got it, no idea what its called tho

Does it look like the spider plant in this thread? I could be completely wrong but i've seen this plant at my local petsmart and was told they are non aquatic.

Spider Plant

Hope its not it though :good:

it does look similar i must admit,

oh well., ill keep a close eye on it and on the water tests just incase

i hope its not thought as its a really nice plant

just need to get some slate now and make a couple of caves

Ya, It's unfortunate that stores will sell these and others as aquatic. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya. Keep it up with the updates as you add more stuff!! :D

well done youve really done a fantastic job :) i dont think its a spider plant, but keep an eye on it anyway darkerwhite may be right ( you`d be surprised what you can get thats meant to be aquatic- but infact belongs on the window sil)
let me know if you want some java moss to tie onto that bogwood i have a little left from breaking my tank down and your more than welcome to it :)
yes you should be really proud of that :)
