the minions got hold of my big appolo shark for me and there roaming free in my 5x3 tank happily.

i went to feed tonight on what i was giving my other big tank and they didn't eat it.

on the menu was frozen prawns, lance fish and bloodworm, they sucked it up but then spat it out.

any ideas?

i also tried cichlid gold pellets.

The LFS that we got them from had succesfully fed them frozen bloodworm which although not suitable as an exclusive diet, was at least something to start them on.

I understand that they also will take flake.

I'll give flake ago then.

The sucked up then spat out the bloodworm, had to scope it off the bottom

cheers.

Mine eats anything I throw at it, sounds like it doesn't have an appetite. Perhaps it might be worth posting in the emergency forums. They're all not eating?

Maybe if i wait a few days then try feeding again they won't refuse anything.

yeh al of them picked a bit of prawn then spat it out, 1 of them grabbed the piece of lance fish and checked then no one else did and the smallest(by a few inches) was picking at the bloodworm but kept on splitting the bits out and no one even touched the flake or krill, 1 of them grabbed the cricket chewed it a bit then spat it out still alive.

I really wouldn't worry about it.
Different fish react to being moved in different ways. If it takes a few days or even more than a week for them to find their confidence and start eating, they'll still be fine.

They'll eat when they're ready.

I guess, bit of a shock to me it's the first fish that hasn't eaten for me. Must be because there older.

Howabout try some baby brineshrimp that seems to get most fish interested.

Live shrimp and crickets are rarely refused by surface dwelling predators and as a last resort small guppies seem to be irresitable.
Have you checked the water parameters? Loss of appetite is often a early sign of pollution in the tank, check the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels a.s.a.p if you haven't already and do corrective water changes if nessasary.

BTW lance fish aren't the best thing to be using for your fish, often the bags of lance fish have defrosted and been re frozen many times by the time they reach the LFS so many predatory fish wont touch them because they are not fresh enough. I use white bait (small sprats) from the fish mongers which are intended for human consumption so are very fresh and even pure piscavors like my African pikes will take them.

cheers, hadn't thought of testing my water...doh

not looking forward to water changing that tank :(

If the waters good i'll try a few platties that are going spare.

I'm pretty sure our lance fish is pretty fresh the supplier runs the place by himself who also delivers our plants. He sets off from Holland late night/early morning arrives to us in the morning and straight in the freezers they are also packed in poly bozes.

I might try some fish monger stuff, but mum will have to get that as i hate the smell of raw fish  They'll end up with more than just my money!!

I'll give some live foods (blood worm, glass worm, brine shrimp) a go aswell.

the water was fine and I had low nitrates fr a change, they usually come up bit higher out the tap.

Just thought the PH change might be a tad so there feeling a bit down...? Whats your PH Minions?

I'ved had to move some fish down there sooner than wanted so food i cant get to won't go to waste and root now.

Well this afternoon i put flies in which they ate to my surprise so i thought i would try crickets again in the evening to a sucess!!

they didn't take the live jumbo bloodworm i fed to the others though.
