Has anyone had any experience with this store? The prices seem excellent and the shipping is very good. I'm also looking at the "Big Al's Aquarium Heater", has anyone ever got this or any other stuff from there? I would love to hear any information or experiences people have had.

I haven't bought that particular item but have ordered from them numerous times. As a matter of fact I placed an order this past Thursday (double points on Wednesday and through noon on Thursday) at about 9:00 AM and it shipped the same day. I would definitely recommend them. Also, petsolutions.com has good prices and hellolights.com has the best prices I have found for lights and lighting accessories.

Big Al's will match any online competitor's price, as long as the competitor has the item in stock, BUT you have to phone them. You can't do "price matches" ordering online or you can't order online and then phone them after. You must phone first.

Also, place you're order on Wednesday when you receive double "BigAls Bonus Points".

I ordered from there once, and will be placing my next order with them as well. Good experience.

As for their "house" brand, I've never tried any of their products.

I just recently started dealing with them a lot, I got my order this week within 48 hours of placing it, and it was free shipping!

I have bought the Big Al's Aquarium Heater, and it was not what I had expected. I purchased it becausen it stated that it had a "solid state thermostat". After reading that I assumed you would be able to set the temp easily... this was not the case.

What the instructions said to do was, put the new heater in the tank - making sure the tank is the EXACT same temp that you want to keep it. (if its a new tank, how would it be the temp that you want it, isn't that why I bought the heater???) Once you put it in the tank, that is exactly the same temp you want to keep it, you turn the dial untill the heater kicks on, and apprantly the heater will keep the tank that temp always... well that was not the case for me. I tried 3 times with no luck each time, I could not keep the temp consistant, although I had cichlids in this tank and was nervous about the temp changing so much so I bought a new heater. Also the heater was very cheaply made.

Having said that they are the best company I have ever delt with and I will be a lifetime customer... I would suggest you just spend a bit more on a heater and save the hassle that I went through. I bought a couple of these heaters this week:

I have nothing but good things to say about them, you can set the temp between 64-94, and it is EXACT to my digital thermomitor.

Wow thanks to everyone for answering. I thought this thread had died actually, LOL.

About the heaters, that sounds alot like the Hagan Radient on my 10 gallon. While it is not the best (or even close to it), i am used to it, and am doing this on a severe budget so I'm not sure I really have another option. Thank you for your review though. I may have to streach my budget a bit and go for the better heaters.

This is just in time as I was planning on ordering tomarrow morning. :)
