hello and once again i am trying to pick what to put in my 75 gallon tank so can one ornate bichir and one oscar live in it but if what type of catfish would work

Well, they could, but the ornate can't stay in there long term.

Here is a list that might help..all of the upper jaws are suitable except the ornate and teugelsi.
You can keep just one if you like but they feel safer in numbers, and pile on top of each other.

Upper Jaw Species-Upper jaw protrudes past lower jaw
P. palmas palmas ('palmas' bichir)- 13"
(subspecies)P. palmas polli ('marbled bichir)- 14"
(subspecies) P. palmas buettikoferi ('buettikoferi' bichir)- 13"
P. ornatipinnis ('ornate' bichir)- 27"
P. delhezi ('armoured' or 'delhez's' bichir)- 14"
P. senegalus senegalus ('Senegal' or 'Cuiver's' bichir)- 12"
(possible subspecies)P. senegalus meridionalis- 12"+
There is, Also the possibility of a third member of the Polypterus senegalus
group that is found in the Nile River
P. retropinnis ('retropinnis' bichir)- 14"
P .mokelembembe
P. weeksi ('week's' bichir)- 20"
P.teugelsi (found only in the Cross river)-16.75''
E. calabaricus ('Ropefish')- 15"-30" (Closer to 15''-20'' in captivity)

Lower Jaw Species-Lower protrudes past upper jaw
P. endlicheri endlicheri ('saddled' or 'red' bichir)- 32", possibly more
(subspecies)P. endlicheri congicus ('giant' or 'congo' bichir)- 39"
P. Bichir lapradei ('Lapradei' bichir)- 24"
P. bichir bichir-30+ ''
P.ansorgii-28-30+''

Like ninj said the ornate, teugelsi, and lower jaw species all require larger tanks. You could go with any of the other upper jaw species ninj mentioned or maybe a couple reed fish, i wouldnt put reedfish with oscars though. You could go with a few senegal and delhezi if youd like. I also have a 75 gallon oddball tank, most of its inhabitance are being upgraded though.

Hmm unfortunately I don't know much about catfish. A raphael would be fine.
The striped ones apparently hide almost all the time though. I heard the spotted come out a bit more. But that is what I've heard/read, I havn't had one :/

sweet i love raphael catfish and they grunt like pig lol thanks

Lol I didn't know that! Interesting. Well glad I could be of some help ^_^

Striped and spotted rapheals can be VERY reclusive, and they can eat so much they explode because their brain doesnt tell them other wise. If its just the oscar atm you could think about adding a nice school of synodontis decorum, syno polli, syno petricola, or if money isnt a object syno angelcus, with just then and a lot of rocky hiding places you could have i think about 8.
The spotted one hides a ton as well, had one that eventually only came out at night and got stuck in all sorts of places. Their scales are also very sharp, so dont catch them with nets, rather a cup.

They are lovely little catfish and do well in groups, but S. lucipinnis stay far too small to be safely kept with an Oscar for life.

I could see Synodontis notata or budgetti working with an Oscar, however, like the Oscar they need a far bigger tank for life (my specimen of each catfish lives in a 6x1.3x1.5). An Oscar normally needs a 5x2x2 just to be kept as a singleton "wet pet," to put an Oscar in a community normally means at least a 6x2x2.

Bichirs are not small fish as adults either, even a P. delhezi is going to need a generous 5-footer, I'm not sure I would consider any of the genus for my African oddball 6-footer.
