In the past I have kept a BGK with an ABK, and the BGK ended up dying. In my LFS I have seen a few clown knife fish, I really want one and think they look great.

My question is, would the same thing happen if I got another knife (that is would my BGK die again)? Or would they both be okay being kept together? I really hope that they will be okay together and my LFS said they would take it back if there was a problem. Has anybody had any experience keeping these two together?

ATM I have a 6" BGK and I love it, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice it for a clown knife. I would keep it in my largest tank, you can view my stats on my profile.

Clown knife fish are large (up to nearly 4 feet), fast growing and aggressive so are only suited for the largest of tanks with equally large and aggressive tankmates, i personally wouldnt recomend them as a tankmates for a BGK.

i wanted a clown knife for my jewel 450 shame they get so big.a friend of mine has one in a 6x2x2(not ideal i know) i have been told clown knives will actively seek out and kill any other knife fish in the tank.they may be ok whilst small but the bigger they get the more aggresive and intollerant they are

I have a BGK and despite the fact that a clown knife outgrows that tank it would also kill my BGK. Never mind, what is a good house mate for them? even though I'm not getting one I just wondered.

bgk's are boring and anoying.
i had a 7" pike cichl. tht killed a whole tank.
took him back and they let me have a bgk free of charge,
he never came out, never fed or anything, i think eventually my gar got him, all i really considered him as was gar meat. ive enver kept a fish more boring than goldfish, but now im sure bgk's are the worst.

What a surprise, you kept a nocturnal fish in a tank with fish that would predate on him and he didn't swim around and say hello. Hardly rocket science is it?

If you are in a house full of people with knives who want to stab you, are you really going to spend all day wandering from room to room, or stay in the nice safe(ish) cupboard?

I have had my 12" ghost knife for about 5 years and hes one of my fave fish.Hes very friendly and will hand feed.He gets on ok with my big cichlids but only because of his size(he was already large when I started keeping cichlids).
