As some of you know, I've had fish with TB in the past. Well, when the last of those infected with TB passed away a while back I used boiling water to clean his tank before passing it on to Gabriel.... looks like boiling water wasn't enough :(

Gabriel has it now. His days are numbered and for a while he was looking just awful and not eating, but a round of Maracyn has perked him up considerably. He is unable to chew pellets, but takes frozen foods ok, and is at least swimming around now instead of moping at the surface. I have hope of keeping him around for several more months at least if he keeps improving.

This is just a warning for you all... if ever you have a fish with TB, do not reuse the tank or anything in it until it has been thoroughly bleached. Boiling the cram out of it apparently isn't enough.

Sorry to hear that, and thanks for the heads up. I lost three fish to TB before realizing the tank was how it was spreading. It is now a cockroach tank, and I marked it on the hood so I would know not to use it for fish any more.

Plus if you can get an antibiotic like minocycline that good at treating fish tb.

You could've talked to me about this Synirr! I never, ever, ever, ever boil water to clean out tanks (at one point in time this happened to me.). I've always bleached if something dies out because of TB.

Boiling has always worked in the past, who'd have thunk it :dunno:

Edit: oppositearmor, I didn't even know you ever had a fish with TB?

Aaaw no.. I love Gabriel. :-( Hopefully he'll recover... they can recover from TB, right?

Thanks for the warning.

Awww synirr I'm so sorry to hear about Gabriel! He is one of my fav's too the poor little guy! At least he has you to take care of him he's in the best place!
