Hi i'm new to betts keeping. We went out to buy a male betts and the young lady in the shop showed us the fabulous range of coloured female betts they ha also and convinced us to buy one of each saying they
go together well.

Do they? I have my doubts! We have a 15l tank which is fully cycled and heated to 26 ready for them both if this does not work can the female go in our 30l tank with 3 female plates, one male Molly, 2 danios and 4 tetra? Is the female friendly with community members? Help!!

The male would most likely kill the female almost immediately.

Also that tank is quite small, so it's best to not add any other fish at all. Yes, the female can go in the larger tank.

Please reconsider keeping the molly and danios in a 30 litre tank, it's not really big enough for them. Also schooling fish do best in schools.

Thank you. they are both currently together and no fighting is occurring but I will transfer her into the bigger tank. It's so hard as a beginner because of the conflicting information you receive. I have been going into a well known pet chain for advice and then a good small stockier but neither seem to have the welfare of the fish as their priority. On asking how to keep the betta we were told he did not need heating or space bigger than half a litre because he comes from a puddle. Will leave him on his own. We have another 30l tank not currently in use would he be better in this with some tetra? Or is solo really ok?

Thanks again.

Puddle is true.. but from what I understand, big puddles, more like. Also it is most likely that Bettas rarely reach their full lifespan in the wild.

I would always chose a 30 litre tank over a 15 litre..

Thank you for the advice and I will consider what to do with our danios. They're only small now but having done more research I realise they weren't a good choice either
