Better Plec Pics!

Hi Bex,
Ended up going to the lfs just to look at plecs and they had a royal there. Thanks for the info on him, I think we may end up getting one at some point! We fell in love with the adonis but was told he would grow to about 4ft! Not entirely convinced so I'm going to do my homework on him.
We were on our best behaviour and didn't buy another plec but have been told they've got a new shipment coming in on Tuesday. Apparently, they are expecting some unusual ones so we've got to have a look!
We really have become addicted!

My LFS has a huge Adonis plec that was brought back by a customer. Not sure that they get to 4ft but this guy is pretty big. Great looking plec, this guy is over 1ft. He's got a lyretail though, I think that's what it is, you know the tails with the long bits on the end? Well, we've got tiger barbs that would probably think his tail is for munching so we steer clear of tails like that

The unusual ones are so hard to resist! Now when we go to our LFS to get things, we avoid looking at the plecs because we know we can't fit any more in our big tank. But with this new tank coming.... :hey:

Thats exactly what we are thinking. We've decided we can fit a 5ft and a 4ft in our dining room and are already planning what plecs to put in there!
When you get your new tank you'll have to let me know what you decide to put in it. We'd love an 8ft tank but our downstairs is open plan so we're restricted with wall space. Our downstairs is going to look like a fish house!
I must say Bex, you've got a lot of willpower staying away from those plecs. We must annoy the hell out of the staff at our lfs cos we spend ages looking at the plecs and bombarding them with questions ( the staff, that is, not the plecs)

Sounds like you 2 are on the same adictive downward spiral that I'm on :D

So far the biggest tank we have is 350L....

But I've got plan up my sleave... (not that Lorna is too keen on it)

Just looked at your profile and you certainly like your Plecs! It is very addictive, we started out with a 3ft tank and a couple of Bristlenose and that was all we intended to have. Before we knew it, the tanks were taking over! Best thing we ever did though, we get so much pleasure from it.
As for your plan, what is it? You can tell us... you know you want to

C'mon smithrc, reveal the the master plan!! You know want to! :hey:

stang1 - unfortunately we don't have choice of what goes in this tank. It's coming from a good friend of ours who can't look after it any more and we agreed we would take the tank and all the fish, kind of a fishey adoption. He's had them for years and really doesn't want them to go back to a shop or anything so we promised we would just look after them all for him. It's fully stocked so no more fisheys in this one. We could maybe squeeze another small plec in, but this common has been the only plec in the tank for 5 years so not quite sure how he'd take to another one. He can be a bit grumpy apparently so not sure it's worth the risk.

The thing about our LFS is most of them are plec heads too, so they don't mind us staring at the plecs and asking loads of questions. They keep telling us that they can get any plecs we want, which is like a carrot to a donkey with us!

You ought to start charging Bex. That way you can put the money towards your 8ft tank :D
Wouldn't life be easier if the staff didn't tell you things like that! Its like offering a drink to an alcoholic

Well.. We've just had a conservatory built (work oficially finished today - Woo)

Its off the dining room and will let us turn the dining table round so that it runs across the rooms width rather than its length... This will leave the far wall 'free' and with a bit of DIY on the stand (as the radiator is on that wall) we can get an 8ftx2ft tank in there...

That'll give us a great tank for our clowns and our bigger plecs (we have about 4 that 'could' get to about 10" and a few that will get to 12"+)

A few big groups of Congo and buenos aires tetras and It'll look great :)

Thankfully our clowns have perfected the art of begging for food - as they grow I'm sure they will learn to hastle Lorna for a new tank :D

Sounds awesome

Thankfully my hubby is all gung ho for a bigger tank and more plecs. All we need now is a house :X SO for now all we can do is dream of an 8ft tank. An 8ft by 2ft sounds perfect!
