Hey, i hav'nt been posting on the forum for a while, mainly because i got everything under control, healthy fishes and my guppies never stop breeding!, now i wanna keep a betta on my desktop, however i wanna keep it low budget :)

would these work for a betta?

first idea

2nd idea

:p if that can solve my tank problem....

i understand that some people do 100% water changes each week, that wont be a problemn since the tank is so small.

All fishes need to have chlorine free water to live in, i saw those betta aqua plus, is it the same as the normal aqua plus that i use for all my otgher fish? what about the food? flakes? pellets? is it necessary to buy betta food?

oh and do i cycle the tank for a betta? i mean 100% water changes? dont they need cycled water?

thanks :D

EDIT: this one looks good too 3rd idea

do you think these vases are ognna be 1 or 2 gallons? i mean these are nice and cheap solutions, dont worry i wont keep plants with the betta :p

If you were going to go for anyone of those then the third one, but personally I would never keep a betta in anything like that apart from as a temporary measure.

If you are going to get that type of container then of course there is no maturing of the tank needed just nice clean de-chlorinated water. However betta's need reasonably warm water I never let mine get below 25c so unless you have a very warm house you are going to need a heater, also betta's can and do jump so you will need something to go over the top of the container.

thanks for your reply, i think the picture doesnt do the containers justice, but i honestly think the containers are at least 1 gallon or more, i mean, they looks pretty large i dunno, i thought bettas can live hapily in a 1- 2 gallon container? and of course i will put some kind aof lid one

EDIT: well it doenst say the dimensions on the site but it does say the height, the tall on is 22 cm, while the others are 14 or 17 cm

EDIT 2: i mean i wouldnt want my betta to suffer, so feel free to tell me the truth, i dont mind :)

The vases are actually quite small.I know as I have actually bought them myself from Ikea ( not for fish though) Please try and find another type of container/tank as the fish would not have a lot of room

You could just get a regular tank, anywhere from 2.5 to 10 gallons for around $10. Small tanks are very cheap (comparatively).
Or you could always shop around at garage sales and the like.

alright, ill toss the idea away, buying a 10 gallon isnt the problem, it's that i ahve to put in even more work to maintain it, when i still have my 55 gallon and 2 10 gallons (one temperary for a turtle).

The turtle is crazy dirty so i have to do water changes every 3 days + water changes on my other tanks bi weekly...and now another 10 gallon i dont htink i can keep all the tanks healthy, ill give it up :D

i was planing to put a 1 to 2 gallon tank on my desk but i guess i cant find a good priced one, its crazy how a 10 gallon tank is $10 while a 2 g is like $20....

Really? Strange... what store is that? Online, at thatpetplace.com, they list 2.5 and 5.5 gals at $9.49 and 10 gals at $9.99. At my LFS all 3 tanks are about the same price as well.

Even though i dont buy fishes there, i go to petsmart to buy tanks , food, supplies, etc for my fish, they had a 5 gallon tanks for like $15 !! :hyper:

I calculated for the 3rd vase, and it seems like it would hold around 1 gallon of water.

I think that would be okay. But you need a lid.

The other two are unacceptable.
