Bettas

It is Hikari Betta Bio-Gold pellets. My babies love it! It comes in a small cardboard container and sells for around $2.00. Not very expensive and if you only have 1 fish, it should last you for awhile! Most of mine also eat flakes except for a few stubborn ones!

Durkat......my buddy ole pal ( well no, i dont know u :p )

But Ill try to be as nice as possible :p

1/2g are not cool dude, that's like you living in a bathroom :look: even though you can surive in a bathroom ( i hope so  ) you wouldnt feel comfortable and u will be stressed out all the time........Same for bettas.....they like to swim around in large amounts of space......

1/2 should only be kept for juvies until they grow out (ayya babbbbbies :hyper: )

1 gal is minimum.....do it for ur betta man :)

Also in 1/2g bettas tend to get sicker because of the water that they live in......the poop (eww) and food (yum) dont get diluted that much n then Mr.Betta breathes it ( EWWWWWWWW Kinda like smelling poop ROFL) and it causes damage and pain to Mr.Betta's gills....kinda like putting salt on a open wound.....(OWWWWWWW).......

Also in 1/2g u have to do W/Cs every other day or every 3 days.......W/Cs are hard on bettas.......and will stress them out......

Aslo in 1/2g if u miss a day it will turn to chaos.......as in for a 1 gallon if u miss a day its ok....but u have to do a w/c ASAP! :p

Just chillax dude  People just trying to help........its tough love :)

EDITED for Spelling

God....I gotta pay more attention in english....

Well I do weekly 100% water changes and my bettas seem to thrive betta in these tanks because one of them was in the 2.5 I have and it was chewing his fins and I saved him from dieing like all the other bettas in it.

If you have issues with how durbkat is keeping his fish, take it up in a PM, not publicly in SOMEONE ELSE'S thread..........................

How about we get this thread back on topic for phillip?

I'll bow out now.

Thank you MAM. Also I have one more thing to say if you have a problem bring it on in a PM not in a thread and I'll take care of any comments you have to say about me being inhumane cough*iron maiden fan*cough or anything else just PM me and I'll straighten it all out. :p

Sorry to be off topic.........

Just one more question.....Is there a Debate Forum here? If no there should be so people can debate on fish keeping :)

Anways whos

Saucy OUT!

Thats a good idea dasauce that way people can say how they keep their fish and have a all out word war with the person questioning their way off keeping their fish.

Yea......true  :p

Anywhoooos back on Topic

Yes Bettas can eat.....flakes......BUT you gotta remember bettas are PICKY eaters and most likely wont accept the flakes.......they prefer "meaty" foods such as pellets.....bloodworms...etc....

Hope that helps

anyone got any pics of bettas

can these eat flake food

Alright, let's back on topic shall we. Yes, they can eat flake food. Some of mine like it, while others won't touch it. That being said, it is a good thing to vary their diet. I feed mine frozen brine shrimp, bloodworm, daphnia, peas, the occassional live bug, and I do fast them for 1 day, at least my bowl bettas. My tropical tank gets fasted for two days. Keeps the snail population down. :p

Here's a picture of one of my gentlemen, he's a red CT, named Loge, after the Norse god of fire.

But bettas come in a whole berage of colors and tail types, so it wouldn't hurt to search around the forum here. Many people in the forum have nearly all the tail and color types in their signature.

ok ta thanks mam

i love my betta i would like another but i cant as they will fight

I meant they can eat it but they won't live long because flakes don't have protein and whatever else carnvories like bettas need. I know this because one of my young bettas two years ago died because all he ate was flakes and had no meat in his diet.

if you check the package of fish flakes, they do contain protein. for example, hikari tropical flake has 47% crude protein, 2% more than HBH Betta bites.

if you have flakes already, give them a try for a few days- when he gets hungry he might learn to like it and eat it. if not, buy some betta granules at the petstore, they are not very expensive.

Don't mean to take away from the thread but DaSauce said something that reminds me of a funny thing...when I was like 5 I was mad at my parents (for some reason I dont remember) and so I was going to be a rebel....and I decided to move into the bathroom so my bed was the bath tub and I stocked the shelves with food from our cupboards haha....I stayed in there for a good couple days too...I know Im weird anyways continue thread!
