i was just wondering wether it was possible for a betta to be kept in with discus. i am setting up a 55g discus tank and would like to put a betta in with it.

any thoughts?

hmmmm, I dunno about that. Seems as though there would be fighting....I'd put my money on the betta but YIPES, I would imagine a discus could rip a betta to shreds rather quickly

would not put a betta in with a discus. discus are pretty particular fish and should imo be kept with their own species. they require a clean environment and almost daily water changes. the betta would probably only stress out the discus.

Agree with every-one else. Just go Discus.

Or if you do want to add tankmates look to Rams, Cardinal Tetra's or maybe Angels. Nothing feisty, nippy or to quick..... :D

I can't really help you with your question, but I can say that discus are ery jumpy fish. The slightest knock on the tank or sudden movement from other fish, they freak. I have recently just got 2 (given to me) they are in with different fish like angels, tetra and even catfish. So far so good but im only 2 weeks in.

I don't know much about bettas only that the're beautiful fish, I would check their water requirements as they might not like a low PH as for the discus at abou 6 - 6.5.
