I have 1 betta in my ten gallon with a divider seperating the comunity half. Would it be okay to have a ten gallon with a divider in the middle and one betta on each side? the devider is clear.

If the fivider is clear line up as many plants and ornaments along each side of the divider so they males cant see each other as well.

If possible, you could take the divider out and "frost" it. I did that with mine.. used to be clear plastic sheets, then i sanded them down so they were pretty frosty..

If you can't take them out tho.. you could always put some backing paper between so then that way there's definatly no chance they will be able to see each other, cuz once they have caught a glimps of another fighter, they will more than likely keep goin back to the samespot and flaring at each other.. silly fishes ^^

Wish they got on.. community tank with more males would look awesome!!! shame...

i have a tank with a similer set up, i make sure each betta has a hiding spot and plants to duck into if there tired of flaring. just watch for stress from either fish.

ok, thanks alot. I guess I could lightly sand it and if they get too stressed I could move some of my plants to the divider.

Thats what I like about this forum... Great assistance by friendly people! :)

I agree. Bettas would be even more popular if you could have them together without fighting. It would look awsome!

I always sand my dividers too, doesn't take long and gives them more the look af a bathroom window :p They soon get used to each others shadows, and unless you have an excessively violent betta, they seem to forget about each other eventually!

If you put backing paper on the divider, wouldn't that inhibit the flow through of the divider?

I haven;t put any flow thru holes in my dividers.. I;ve got them all cut off from each other all with a filter and heater of their own.. that way if ones gets ill *god forbid* the others won;t come down with it too.. I used to have a different tank with dividers and a gap at the bottom so the water woul flow thru, then one got ill and i lost 6 fish *cries* so I have learnt the hard way.. but if the dividers have flow thru holes then yeah it would do
