Ok, well I guess I'll treat with bettamax. I never thought it was a blown tail, and it doesn't look gross, just like he has a short tail now. I don't know what happened, but I'll treat him to keep him healthy and keep you posted.
The same thing happened with one of mine. It was getting long and flowing. Then one day it just started tearing and getting ragged. No discoloration at the ends or anything like that. Maybe it's just natures way of keeping them short so they don't get too heavy and wight the betta down.
