bettas need heaters and filters??

Well I have a betta in a 12 gallon tank with tetras and cherry barbs.

aa, what types of tetras do you have in with the betta?

Black neons. They've been fine until recently when one of them got "got at" by another fish. I'm suspecting the leader of the black neon pack. Perhaps he broke some unwritten rule? Anyway, peace seems to have returned, at least for now, and there's been no repeat of the violence.

Anyway, no one touches my betta who is a bit of a tough-nut.
