Hello today i was having a wonder round a lfs that i have'nt been in before and what did i see 3 tanks with a betta in each with other fish, There poor lil fins were in a really bad state. Just wanted to no if theres out i can do as they looked really bad, Thats saying somthink as i dont really no much about fish just what i'v picked up off this site.

Thanks Karen.

Don't know much about keeping betta's howver i know there fins should not be ripped and should not be kept in with certain fish, that's why in the majority of fish books it says they are 'species tank' fish.
Don't be shy and tell the workers harsh that they should not be keeping betta's in community tanks especcialy if the other fish clearly pick on them

I've had to speak to people at Walmart before on the care of bettas . Actually it worked...the betta at our new Super walmart are kept in larger containers and not stacked on top of each other...

Tell them that you were going to buy some Betta's from them but after seeing the state of their Betta's you won't be bothering.

for UK people - you might of heard of Garden Machines....well on tuesday i went in...i saw a red betta totally mashed! poor thing...sooooo....i purchased it.......full price...but i didnt care...and now im feeding it a little bit of bloodworms every day....gosh the colour is back its active...and to think in a small tank with aroung 10 large gouramis..it would of died...i feel so happy that i saved it...i saw it in the shop before the new year...but he's fine...pure shiney red with a scent of light blue on the top fin...

Kevin garden machines in Kingsthorpe..down the road to me..have moaned at them no end of times...

was going in there tomorrow just to have a look round...need some weed..but I think thats where I got my last load of snails from in my big tank!

yeah they do have a few dead ones...my mate works there...i had a go at him...but he said the fish die naturally...that got me annoyed...but they seem to be doing quite well lately...i got some healthy fish from there...

I suppose every where can change with some good staff. I had heard the chap that owns it wanted to sell.
