I've noticed that a lot (if not the majority), of the betta folks here are from the UK. Are bettas really popular over there in general? And if so, why? Just being a curious American :)

I wouldn't say there are more British members than Americans on here. Seems about equal? I think that in the USA in your general lfs, you get a bigger range of tail types than we do. I only know one lfs that always has anything other than VT's and CT's, and thats Modaz's shop. Other than that its either private breeders or import through a transhipper (apart from the fact there is no transhipper in the UK lol)

Maybe we're just more vocal

Set up a poll?

I guess I havent been here long enough to compare. Or maybe I've just noticed more British members lol *shrugs*

The majority of tail types Ive seen in shops near me (chain stores and privately owned fish shops) are CT's and VT's

I also looked up betta breeders and the closest one to me is about 8 hours upstate. Unless there are more that havent shown up in searches

I'll try to set up a poll in a sec

the only large volume breeder anywhere near me lives in nyc and sells some sometimes uggo bettas for very expensive.

much uggo, i dont see the point of trying to upplay a fish to whats its not..... if its a delta dont say its a hm,, or if its a combtail dont call it a ct... get my point?

I always thought bettas were bigger in america. I have never found any betta other than a VT anywhere in the north east of england where i live, hence why i order them from breeders. But when i went to the usa on holiday bettas were in just about every shop!

Also if you look on the american ebay.com they have loads more bettas than we do here on ours!!!

Ive noticed that too! Then again dont tempt me with ebay, i have noticed devon_charms boys have gone on recently and i am sooo tempted, but the tank is new and im attempting to clone it from my community, and dont want to risk such a nice fish!

Okay, I won't tempt you with eBay, I'll just tempt you on here:-

This is George, he arrived yesterday (I can't get a pic of him as good as this....lol) and he is a proper little sod already. He is soooo small.....

wow he is lovely! Im looking at the red HM with the butterfly edges at the moment, or the copper ct, or the silver ct, or the bi coloured hm....
I think i should just stop before i start

I guess I just dont pay enough attention lol

There are live bettas for sale on ebay?! I thought they werent able to sell live animals? Hmmm gonna have to check that out...
