Can you put african dwarf frogs with bettas? I was told by one lfs that the bettas will eat the frogs but i thought they were a bit big to be eaten. has anyone ever kept them together?

thanks inchworm i read up about telling the difference between them but the LFS put me off when he said the betta will eat it.Thank for putting hte record straight. Next time i see one i think i'll get it and put it with hellboy the betta, two apple snails and two amano shrimp! :D

Hi aloaring :)

I'm sure you will enjoy having a little frog in your tank. I'm very happy with mine, although I keep them in a little tank by themselves.

The only caution I would give you is to be sure that you keep the tank well covered. Even though they are small they are great jumpers. :D

I just bought 2 Occidozyga lima and have them with a short-finned male betta in a 2.5g. They are not fully aquatic like ADFs. I was told they only get to be 1.5".

I lowered the water level about 2 - 3 inches, stood a couple small pieces of bogwood up so they stick out of the water, and floated hornworth and duckweed on the surface.

They are great jumpers. One of mine jumped in the garbage can at the store.

Here's a pic (not my pic):

Aloaring- I know you asked about ADFs, but I had to tell someone, I figured it might as well be you, since I havn't talked to you in a while. :p

PS- I hope the new tank is going well. :D

I keep four ADFs with my betta, they like company  Make sure they are well fed, I left for a few days (no feedings) and came back to a nibbled betta :p (only his fins) I only keep the frogs with a female betta now :)

Ohh cometcattle that is a nice frog wonder if i can find any in britain? ;)
So the search is now on for some ADF's i've only seen a couple recently and i want to get a group of them now. Thanks everyone
