bettas and community tanks

I put one of my boy bettas, a smaller one with wild colouring in my 20 gallon community tank the other day, to try and free up betta jars/tanks. I thought everything would be fine as he lived in there before happily. But My appistogramma Aggassi absolutely totaled him! He has like no fins left, or only strings and he wasn't too happy.

So confused. Luckily i removed him as soon as i saw the damage (after school) and hes all better now, with his fins growing back.

My discus and neons tried to do the same thing to a different betta a couple days later....what is with this? i Heard that bettas went okay in community tanks as long as no guppies were present (for the safety of the guppies).

um... bettas shouldnt be with neons... discus are big and will probably cause problems also.... apistos lol.. doesnt surprise me... doesnt sound like a great place for a betta

hopefully he will be better soon

You should probably keep your bettas in there own tanks.
