Bettas . . . A Whole New World

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I think this pertains to one of my fish, with regards to the tail biting. My DT has a shredded tail like that, that I have been trying to treat but it just doesn't seem to be working. I notice now that you meantion about lots of movement outside that tank, that it might be because he doesn't like being out in the open. He was on my bookshelf before, then I switched him with heidi and put him on the dresser, where i thought he would get more attention and be happier. Do you think that it could be why he is biting? I am guessing it is he is biting, because her picture looks similar to what mines fins look like.

Again, sorry to hijack your thread!!!!!

You're not hijacking, you're asking a question. :D I tried to limit movement and even moved him into a smaller tank (1 gallon). He still wasn't happy so I moved him back to the 2.5 gallon. He's just a pouter I guess. He hasn't been biting his fins anymore (that I've noticed) but he's just not healing up (I tried melafix and adding a bit of salt to his water). I guess he just doens't like me (I got him and a couple of others from someone who was going back to college).

For your betta, I'd suggest moving him back to how he was before and see if that makes a difference. Best of luck and let me know how it goes (and what you do to get his tail to heal). :good:

thanks, i am going to move him back tonight, i had a brief telephone discussion with my boyfriend regarding this lol and we both decided it would be best to switch them again. I have been treating with melafix, but i have noticed no improvement, but i suppose if he constantly bites his tail, then it wouldn't show any improvement. I have aquarium salt at home, i will also try that. Thanks!
