Bettamax...just curious:

Yes ...he has turned out to be high maintenance *sigh* lol. This whole tail rot thing is frustrating. I've spent so much money on him I don't even want to add it all up. Ignorance is bliss.

And of course...getting a higher ppm silver is gonna cost a pretty penny as well. And if I did go w/the frozen bloodworms...that's more money. But I might try them. Why would they make a difference?

And to think....Samson was my favorite. But it's Solomon that has turned out to be the toughest one.

They have beta carotene & vitamin B-12 in them, the hikari pellets don't have those, they're immune boosters so they may help, they're only around 4.00 or so & they'll last a lifetime feeding 2 bettas

hmmm...so basically I can just thaw out one of the frozen cubes and give half to each of my boys?? or is that too many worms for one feeding?

The beauty of Hikari is that they come in a thin sheet in a ziploc,no cubes, so you can break off the tiniest of pieces and defrost it,that should be plenty. They sink quickly so just give them one or two at a time using your finger, they'll usually take the bloodworm right off your finger. If you end up with a cube brand just use a small amount of each cube, cut a chip off with a knife, an entire cube would be way too much, I've wasted tons of bloodworms that way :*)
I hate to sound like I'm constantly promoting Hikari, but really they're worth the extra cash because they're better quality and less messy in the long run. Cubes easily get freezer burnt since you only use a small amount at a time  , and they're always brown and gross compared to the Hikari being bright red and healthy in appearance :p :p
I deal with bloodworms every day   , that's the only thing my catfish will eat, every night it's a ritual...scoop their water into a shot glass, defrost the bloodworms, turn off the power heads, remove the lid so I can get into their feeding area where they're waiting, suck the worms into a turkey baster, fight the current of the filter to the bottom and gently squirt the worms into little piles for them, *sigh*...it's a good thing that I'm crazy about them   , then some of the bettas get the leftover worms in the glass :D Ooops, didn't mean to ramble....I've gotta go feed the babies

Keep us posted!!

Yeah...I use Hikari Betta Bio-Gold, which they love. And I spent almost $7 on Hikari Bio-Pure freeze dried brine shrimp...which they don't particularly like *sigh*. And I almost didn't buy it, but I wanted the best for them. Sometimes they may eat it...but mostly they just spit it back out. That's $7 bucks down the drain. Oh well.

But I think I will try their frozen blood worms. I've been reluctanct to try frozen foods because some of the research I've red says to avoid it due to possible parasites, etc. But if it's Hikari, I'll try it. Due to my schedule I probably won't be able to get any until Wednesday night though.

Samson had been in the acriflavin medication, bettafix and silver for about 2 days. I came home from work and did an almost 50% water change and put in a different medication, Anti-Bactieria, w/formalin and benzalkonium chloride. He's got a few blood streaks in the tail, which is one of the things this medication is for.

I bought some more silver but it's still the 10ppm. I just couldn't swing the $26 for the 500ppm unfortunately. The 10 ppm worked last time...so hopefully it will again. I didn't put any in his water after the change. I'll put some more silver and possibly some bettafix in his water tomorrow.

I'm thinking about possibly cycling Samson's 2.5 gallon and putting a couple of ghost shrimp in there, since the tank's already up and running, while he's recovering in the 1/2 gallon. I may just put one shrimp in. Don't know yet.

I'll keep ya posted. Thanks so much for all your help. :)

Samson (and Solomon too) loved the Hikari frozen blood worms. I bought them last night...and it was a good deal when I realized how much I got: I got home and opened up the the package and was surprised to see not one, but two flatpacks in there! Each in it's own ziplock back. For a little over $5, that's a lot of food! I think I got more than my money's worth...and like you said with two fish, the food will last a long time.

I've notice a little transparent/white regrowth (like less than a millimeter) on the edge of Samson's tail. There's still some blood streaks, but I'm sure those will go away like last time.

:D
I've yet to see a betta turn them down :p :p :D

If you read the ingredients they have so many vitamins added to them, the other brands only warn you of allergic reactions to theirs  , but Hikari triple sterilizes

I wonder how they get the blood for the worms  , it must be a disgusting business to be in

I heard Indian almond leaves are good for an ailing betta. It's what they use in southeast Asia for their fighters. Just put the leaves in the water and let it settle after the water turns brown for a couple of days. I forgot the source, but I'll try to find it.
