BettaFix? Am I doing too many H2O changes too??

Yes, use clean, de-chlorinated water.

Buy a thermometer just for your dip tank. :dunno: lol Test the water before you add the salt to see if the temps match, then mix in your salt.

Me personally, I always make up a gallon and keep it stored on a heating pad, that way it is the right temp all the time. I keep it at the same temp I keep their tanks. Also, water with salt will hold onto it's "temp" alot longer then just plain water..so leaving your fish in a dip tank won't cause too much of a temp flux to worry about...if you don't go longer then 30 min (well, that depends on how cold your room is too..on how long they can go without having a heater in the water.) There is no set limit on what size container to use either. if you make up a gallon you can divvy out small portions to give a dip in...that's what I do. I have a designated beanie box i use, and I fill it halfways with the Dip water for treatment. I usually throw in some frozen bloodworms too..so they aren't just like "now wtf did she put me in here for?" lol. All of mine like getting a dip now...they see me getting out the stuff and start flipping out lol.

Think about it...you are putting chemicals in the water....salt is much safer then chemicals. If they "pass out" all you have to do is stick them right back in their tank water and they wake right back up. It's not like they are out for a long time lol. (that's why you stand there and watch for the first 5 minutes..after that if they haven't rolled...I doubt they are going to.

I feel like someone's trying to talk me into bungee jumping.

I will do a salt bath either tonight or tomorrow night.

If everyone else is doing it why shouldn't I, eh?

:D

Okay, so I didn't do a salt bath last night, I didn't even get the salt.
Harvey is looking a bit better today so even though I'm not going to do the salt bath right away, I'm still going to pick some up.

;)

I've found that a good way to warm water up is put the gallon jug with your dechlorinated water in it in the sink and fill the sink with hot water. I have a floating therm. that is only for that use. I make sure the jug is filled nearly to the top so I can still get to the therm. to monitor the temp.

Update on Harvey...

Have been treating him for 4 days now with BettaFix - he gave me quite a scare this morning... he was swimming along and I noticed these white stringy things flowing back from his tail. It turned out it was some thingies floating on the top of his tank and not the start of another disease.

On the fins/tail - theyre MUCH improving. I can't really tell if his eye problem is getting better, but at least the tail is defintely better. :)

I would changed this sentense. "As long as you're using dechlorinator or aging your water" to
"As long as you're using dechlorinator and aging your water". :p Trust me. It is always better.:)

So, I looked him over again tonight when I got home and his tail (in comparison to Amos' tail healing @ work) really hasn't made all that much progress.

I'm switching over to BettaMax, starting tomorrow night after his water change.
Man, I don't think this guy has ever been perfectly healthy or felt great since the day I brought him home.
