Betta_246S Low-Tech Planted Shrimp Tank Pico

I will have to redo the substrate as the water is not clearing up, looking on Ebay now for some other sunstrate.

Ok, so i scrapped thecat litter idea because it went all muddy. So i redone the tank for the 4th time. I am using normal sand with lots of plant fert tabs. Which will be topped with slate.

The shrimp arrived today, still ain't recieved the plants or tank light. So the shrimp are currently in a bucket with a filter, floss and 1 anubia. There tiny! :good:

shrimp are currently in a bucket with a filter, there very greedy!

IDK for sure, but i have thi little plastic container in there as a cave and its always moved to the other side of the bucket  im wondering if its them?!?

ok, so set up the light, it never had a clip thing that i could attach to the side of the tank so i made one out of Skewers for support and then card ontop. I have taped the light onto that then covered that with more black card. :good:
The journal has been slow due to it being used as a 'hospital' tank for a rescue betta and the plants not arriving.

Currently, in there is sand with plant fert tabs and an Anubia from Mermaid Mel :good:

Edit: just noticed loads of scratches, when its filled up with water you cant see them. :good:

hmmmmm...not sure! is it light enough for the filter to move it? If not super strong shrimp!

Edit just seen the pics, looking good!! (Have same light on one of my tanks, works a treat)

OMG. My plants arrived today after being stuck in the post for 2 Weeks.

They have a funny smell, and some are black, but i have put them in the tank... lets hope i can save them...! The cherry shrimp have all come out of hiding and are swimming like mad!

:good:

Might upload pictures later... like before and after!! :)

could be copper poisoning, did you rinse the plants prior to addition? take the shrimp and acclimatize them into a fresh container of dechlorinated water, and discard the acclimatization water. Then do a few big water changes on the main tank and run fresh carbon for a few days, replacing it daily, then add the shrimp back in. You don't have a copper test kit do you?

Yep, i rinsed the plants well very well. I let them soak under cold water for a few minutes then i washed them under warm water.

Nope, no copper test kit :/

And its a sponge filter, so i can't run carbon on that :(

I will do a massive water change, say 99% :look: ?
