Betta Yawn

Has anybody seen a betta 'yawn'?

My placket opens his mouth really wide and kinda extends it, his gills kinda popping out a teeny bit and then closes it. It reminds me of a human yawn. So cute

My male betta Raj does it every once in a while. He'll just be swimming along in his tank and I'll see him doing it.
My fem though.. I haven't noticed her yawning ever.

walnut always yawns when i come up to his tank and wake him up in the middle of a nap. i think it's cute.

YAY! I thought I was the only one who saw their betta yawn. Steve yawns in my face. Its so funny!

Khan hasn't yawned. But he grunts a bit when he's trying to go potty.

Me too!! I asked a few people, but none of them had seen it. I love my betta... I don't think I've seen him poo recently, though. XDD The mollies take up all of my attention. <3

I LOVE seenig them yawn, I use to wonder if it was normal, but they aren't bothered so neither am I. Have you guys ever seen them burp? I don't know if that's what they are doing but sometimes my little girl use to do it. It's sort of like a reverse yawn, her gills would suddenly go out huge, and she would open her mouth big, maybe like a burp yawn...but she would just do 1 at a time. vvery cute!

I don't think I've ever seen my betta burp, though sometimes tiny bubbles comes out of his precious little mouth...

As for a picture of a betta yawning, mine doesn't do it very often and I don't have a camera... maybe other people have? I don't think that google will have pictures, because it might not be a 'yawn' exactly...maybe it's something else. I just think it looks like a yawn. <3

Aside from the "burping" and yawning my kiddos do, I noticed yesterday that my ct male opens his mouth in excitement sometimes. It's the cutest thing! Whenever I go over to the tank and stick my finger slowly moving it around in circles, he follows it with his eyes, then when I stop he darts over to my finger and swims back and forth opening his mouth every few seconds, like he just can't stand the excitement!

I also noticed that one of my little girls (zoe) likes to put her body against the tank wall, being completely vertical, and she looks up (with her cute little eyes) and jumps up to pop the bubbles at the surfece, sometimes she jumps above the water...really strange looking! But sooo very cute!
