Betta with guppies?

Bettas are touchy. I've seen some with other fish no problem, then I had one that would go after anything that moved, including a large female molly and a pictus catfish, which if it had been bigger would have been able to eat the betta (this was just so he'd get some exercise from the breeder net I had to keep him in for a while). They can be very grouchy fish, and I don't suggest them with very many types of fish.

My betta and guppies get along great. The betta has never bothered anyone in my tank. I was warned about putting a betta with anything "prettier" than him, but it works for me.
