Hello all,

My name is Brad and I've got a betta fish named Skiba. I've had him about a year and a half now and had no problems with his health or anything until just this past week. I spent some time looking at his right eye on Monday and noticed that it was bulging out. He had pop eye. Alright, no problem. That would also explain why he wasn't moving around and not eating. I went and got Maracyn-2 for him and followed the directions since I've had fish before but never had to give them these tablets. His eye has shrunken back down to normal and is no longer cloudy, but he still isn't eating. Is it possible that there is something in the tablet that would make him not want to eat?

Also, I've noticed that he'll only use his left fin instead of both fins when trying to remain stationary. When he swims around the tank, he'll use both perfectly fine. Could it possible that he's not using his right fin because of the medication and/or pop eye?

Thanks in advance.

Glad to hear that his pop eye got better. As for the not moving fin- It's probably just a balance thing. Kind of like rowing a boat. You don't always use both oars, depending on how you want to move. If he's using both when he swims around, then his fin is probably fine.

I don't know if the tablet would make him not want to eat. Have you tried any different foods? Maybe he just needs to be enticed with something new. He may also just be getting old.

Good luck with your guy!
