I bought the vail tail as he was the best looking colour wise.
He looks black in pictures but really hes a deep purple and shines into a aqua blue.
Now when i got him he was all injured and had a scraggly tail.
BUt the shop had the betta males separated.

Now since i have had him, been around a month now, his tail has slowly been getting better.
I was wondering if there was anything that could help his tail grow back?
wats foods are best for them?

He's in a tank with 5 fire tetra and the tetra seem to like him and seem more happy than before.

also going to buy more plants for the tank and try and remove the gravel, though im worried it may upset them.

Edit:
Picture :D

The best thing you can do is keep his water clean and buy some indian aalmond leaf to put in the tank. read up on the benefits, they are amazing for things like this. I'm using them now to aid my Bettas fins grow back after finrot.

Fins usually grow back very quickly without adding anything, you just need clean water and a stable diet :good: i rescued a male with very little finnage and made a journal of his fin regrowth that you can see HERE :)

As mentioned, clean water is the best remedy. Increasing the amount of protein in their diet (a few more frozen bloodworms/week) will also help greatly with the regrowth. Just dont overfeed, of course.
best of luck. cant wait to see him :) VTs are my favorite
cheers

Alrighty, thanks guys :D
i will get some blood worm today and start feeding them to the fish, i tend to not over feed them and sometimes miss one - two days of feed a week or every 2 weeks
I think i will do a water change later on today

Looks like he has some regrowth which is a good sign, just do small regular water changes and it should heal a treat :good:

try to get frozen bloodworm. Freezedried is "ok" but if that is what you buy make sure you soak them first in a bit of tank water until they are soft. Too much freezedried food can lead to other issues like swimbladder disorders or constipation (which is a big concern with bettas).
cheers

I will do a small water change later, and hopefully can pop out to the pet store, since i need to get stuff for the kittens anyways :p
I will go to the other pet store and get the blood worms which are just frozen ones, and possibly look for some killifish :D

Just had a read-thru of your aquarium journal. Saw the male betta. He is purdy. But, if this is the betta in question it does not appear to be a veiltail. Looks like a male plakat to me (short finned betta). If that is the case, dont expect his finnage to get much more dramatic than that. He looks in good condition tho.
could you get a pic of just him up in this thread so we can confirm?
Cheers
