I have 2 bettas, One is very noisy and will follow my hand checking to see if I'm cleaning it right. kinda like he's saying...."you missed a spot and don't 4-get to clean under my castle" 8)
The other has a "if you don't bother me I won't bother you" mentality. But I can tell he's thankful for the clean up, he always swims around looking at how much cleaner it is
