I was just wondering whay type of fish are compatible with Bettas? I just recently got a Betta and would like to have a few more fish in my 10 gal tank. I know Bettas like to live by themselves, but, are there any fish that can live in a safe environment with my Betta?

I was thinking about an exotic fish like the Black Ghost Knife, but that probably wouldn't work out too well, would it? How about some red-tailed sharks? Or any kind of "shark" (Iridescent, Rainbow, Bala?). I'm guessing they probably wouldn't work too well together, but you get the idea. I'm looking for "cool" looking fish to live with my Betta.

Any ideas?

My Betta lives with 6 Cardinal Tetras. They get on really well, the tetras seem to like him, and he seems to like them. There is no agression and no fin niping.

But these may not seem like 'cool' fish to you, if you wer thinking of something sharky!! But I think they are pretty cool.

Khuli loaches are "cool" looking and make great betta tankmates. White clouds and African dwarf frogs are a couple of other options :)

my betta lives with 2 golden sucking loaches, 5 zebra diano's - all get on dandy

Ive got a male that is with a sucker loach & they seem to get on fine. In my female tank i keep them with two hoplo catfish they dont bother each other

in one of my betta tanks i have two corys 1 baby angel<temp home>...................in the other tank i have 2 angels, 3 xray tetras, 2 platys, zebra danios 1 cory 1 plec............. :alien: there hasnt been any fighting at all.............this is my situation..........

I like Harlequin rasboras and bridget rasboras with bettas. Also pygmy corydoras.

Sounds good. I think I'm just going to keep my Betta by himself at the moment...can't decide what to put in the tank. I put some feeder guppies in there just for fun, the Betta chased those little guys for a while. I hear that they eat feeder guppies (smaller ones).
